This book is a collection of photos from LIFE’s Miscellany page - designed to close each issue with an amusing photograph that would leave the reader laughing. You could say it’s the bright side of LIFE.
It was the perfect book to buy today after having had such bad luck in the last few.
Here’s my favourites from the book:
-
I live solo too and every now and then it can get a bit depressing, but mostly it’s fantastic. The good times certainly outweigh the bad. You can do whatever you want whenever you want, you don’t have to say “hi” and “bye” and then, “ok I’m gonna go to my room now” to someone else all the time. I can have total silence (that is, when the beast downstairs isn’t “jamming” on his drums), spend all day in my bathrobe, drink milk out of the bottle… who cares? Also nothing beats getting drunk alone in the comfort of your own home. I ask you, if you fall off the couch drunk, and no-one was there to see it, did it really happen?
These two are my favourites from this book:
This guy exercises by walking back and forth between rooms. He does 160 round trips of his house which equals four miles!
“I seen some strange things out here. I’m not saying I seen like spaceships or anything. This is strange. My brother told me he used to go out looking for UFOs. When I moved out here, he said, ‘Don’t go looking for them or they’ll look for you.’ He got the feeling that they were following him.”
